Bermuda Turf Problems
Take All Patch usually occurs in warm season turf during the spring. In our Atlanta lawns we find this disease occurring during periods
of extremely hot periods of little or no rainfall especially in bermuda lawns. The damaged areas usually occur in very blocky or straight lines, many times following the mowing troughs created by mowing repetitively in the same direction.
This repetitive mowing cause surface crust compaction reducing water penetration in these areas which places the turf into stress and makes it susceptible to the disease. The damage can mimic damage from spilled gasoline of fertilizer.
Recovery is fairly quick (3 - 4 weeks) if a fungicide and also a soil condition (such as Ecosential Moisture Manager) is applied. Mowing direction should be varied weekly to avoid compaction problems of this type.
