Some of which are plant pathogens and many that are simply saprophytic. Saprophytes feed on organic matter and not doing any harm and are only beneficial. The picture shows a saprophytic mushroom growing in peat moss that was spread in a lawn to cover bare spots. In many cases the assumption is that the mushrooms are attacking the lawn (guilt by association) while in actuality they are simply feeding on the organic matter in the soil. No treatment is needed for this situation.
