Rhizoctonia blight, sometimes called winter patch, appears as brown blotches scattered through the turf. It usually develops just as the turf is breaking dormancy in the spring. It is associated with a variety of conditions which may include any or all conditions such as: high nitrogen levels, high humidity and temperatures and improper watering techniques.
